DAY 01: ARRIVE AURANGABAD
Arrive Aurangabad. Assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. Later excursion to Ajanta Caves (106 km). Ajanta (closed on Mondays) is one of the few historical and architectural marvels of India. Recognized as the World Heritage site today, it was discovered during the 19th century by a group of British officers who were on a tiger hunt. The Ajanta group of caves, located deep within the Sahyadri hills above the Waghora, depict the story of Buddhism that prevailed here during 200 BC to 650 AD. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 02: IN AURANGABAD
Breakfast at hotel. Morning excursion to Ellora Caves (29 km). Ellora Caves (closed on Tuesdays) which encompass 34 rock cut shrines representing Buddhist, Hindu and Jain art dating from the 4th to 9th century A.D. The most remarkable among them is the Kailash Temple, meant to be a replica of Lord Shivas celestial abode, Kailash. It is the best example of Rock cut architecture and an engineering marvel. Later visit Bibi Ka Maqbara, the monument was built in 1679 AD by Aurangzeb’s son. He built it in memory of his mother Rabia. Ata Ullah was the architect and he based the design on the Taj Mahal. The memorial is built of sandstone with plastered walls and has a marble dome. It has a flowery wall around with an entrance which provides the best view of the memorial. The enclosure of the tomb is made of marble and is octagonal. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 03: DEPART AURANGABAD
Breakfast at hotel. In time transfer to airport to connect flight for onward destination.
